2 Chronicles 5:11-14 (King James Version)

And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

Reflect on the last sentence of this scripture passage, “so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.”  Can you imagine a worship service so full of God's glory that one could not stand?  Intercessors, may this be our prayer that His people would offer up heartfelt praise and worship so great that we cannot stand because of the magnitude of God's glory.

Thank You for your willingness to support the Synod of Mid America churches in prayer.  Intercessors Unite newsletter is written to encourage congregations to pray for one another.  If your church has an event, meeting, congregational need or praise to share, please email Diane Aardema at daardema@msn.com

Final Thoughts for prayer leaders

Have you ever been at a meeting or worship service when you pastor says, "We are going to break up in groups and pray", and then when you do, NO one says a word?

Here's a suggestion: Have the leader invite everyone in the group to say one word they are grateful for.  Begin with Father, we thank you for ____.

Follow this by asking everyone in your group to say a sentence prayer for a family member.  Begin with God, please bless my son ____ today.  If you sense this may be too intimidating, go around the circle and ask them to say one person's name who needs the Lord.

Start by praying Father, ____ has head knowledge of you, we ask that they invite you into their heart.  If people have been disconnected from the Lord, praying out load is a tremendous step for them.  People have told me they do not feel worthy to pray.

Encourage them.  Lead by example, take small steps.
